At the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Nordic parliamentarians participating in the interparliamentary meeting support the Nordic governments’ joint declaration “Pushing for Progress – Towards gender equality and equal rights for LGBTI persons 2025–2027.”
Around the world, gender equality, women’s rights and LGBTI rights are increasingly being challenged. In this context, the Nordic countries stress the need to continue advancing equality and defending fundamental rights.
At a time when the consequences of war and geopolitical tensions are growing, and when global anti-rights movements are challenging gender equality and women’s rights, the Nordic parliamentarians participating in CSW stand firm. Gender equality is not something we can pause when times become difficult. It is a prerequisite for resilient societies, preparedness and strong democracies.
The Nordic countries must remain a strong voice for gender equality and continue pushing for progress.
